Council

Limerick is pleased to introduce our municipal council for the 2006-2010 year term. Council meetings are held the first Tuesday evening of each month at the Limerick Community Centre.

Reeve

David Golem

Reeve David Golem was first elected to Council in 2003. In 2006 he was acclaimed as Reeve. He purchased property on Steenburg Lake in 1992. David is retired from a business career following 35 years in General Insurance. He is committed to providing open and accountable government in the Township. He currently sits on the Minor Variance Committee, is ex-officio on all township committees, and sits on the Planning Committee and the Ontarians with Disabilities Committee at the upper tier level at the County of Hastings.

Brian Cofell

Brian first came to the area as a young boy and has spent many enjoyable times with friends and family on Limerick Lake.
Recently, Brian took time to travel and to spend 6 months at the family cottage on the lake. This prompted him to move to the area permanently and to purchase Ashlie’s Books in Bancroft. Brian has worked as a senior manager of Logistics, Information Systems and Customer Service. He has also volunteered with Distress Centre Peel. Brian is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and sits on the BBIA committee. Brian has been appointed to Community Centre Committee, the Library Board and the Family Health Care Team.

Peter De Bruyn

Peter built his home on Old Hastings Road in 1972. He moved to the area permanently in 1979 from Ajax. He grew up on a farm and served in the Military for 3 years. He has worked in the Nursing Dept. at Hastings Centennial Manor since 1980.
He has been the President of CUPE Local 1133 for the past 10 years and at the present time is Treasurer for CUPE Local 1133. Peter has been appointed to Veterinary Unit and the Roads Committee.

Dean Mc Neill

Dean has been a Councillor in Limerick Township since 2003. He has had a cottage on Limerick Lake since 1975. He comes from a business background in pulp/paper/packaging industry and is owner/operator of 2 plants in Ontario. Dean has been appointed to the Fire Committee and Roads Committee.

Shawn Palmateer

Shawn is married with 3 children. He owns and operates a very successful business in Coe Hill. Shawn is looking forward to working with members of Council in making Limerick Twp. a great place to live. His ancestors were born and raised in Limerick and Shawn is very excited in being able to put something back into the Twp. as did his family years ago.
Shawn has been appointed to the Community Centre
